Many interesting day trips await you in St. Pauls, Eppan and the surrounding area!
- “Castle triangle”, Hocheppan Castle – Boymont – Korb Castle: starting directly from Weingarten Hotel, walk to Hocheppan Castle with its chapel and frescos, archery tournaments and guest house. Carry on from here to the Boymont ruins and then via a 60 m long secure wooden stairway to Korb Castle.
- Reinhold Messner has set up the MMM – Messner Mountain Museum Firmian at Sigmundskron Castle between Eppan and Bozen. Here you can find out everything about the relationship between “man and mountain”. Besides a history of the castle itself, Reinhold Messner introduces the mountains and Alps through art works and paintings in a number of exhibitions as well as stories about the world’s mountains and the communities that dwell in them.
- The principal municipal town of Bozen, only 7 km away, exudes Italian flair. Its leafy streets are lined with numerous fashion and shoe shops. The Saturday market is also a popular destination for keen shoppers. Cultural offerings include the Ötzi-Museum, the “Museion” – museum of modern art, Bozen cathedral, the many leafy arbours, archways and streets, a fruit market, Walther Square and Runkelstein Castle.
- You can marvel at the wonders of nature in the Spring Valley and ice holes... in the former, spring comes into bloom really early in the year and in the latter the temperature never rises above 4°C!
- The Bletterbach ravine is the only one of its kind in the whole of Europe. The canyon allows insight into 280 million years of geological history and unearths fossils and dinosaur trails.
- The neighbouring community of Kaltern an der Weinstraße boasts Kalter Lake, the warmest swimming lake in the Alps, an adventure climbing park, numerous cellars and a wine museum. Alternatively you can take the steepest funicular railway in Europe up onto the Mendel.
- Only 20 km away, the spa town of Meran offers many attractions including thermal baths, the botanic gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, the “Touriseum” South Tyrol Museum of Tourism, spa promenades, the Tappeinerweg promenade and a museum of women’s lives.
- Further recommendations include a trip to the Seiseralm, the largest area of continuous high alpine pasture in Europe, a circular tour of the Dolomites, a trip onto the Ritten as well as day trips to Venice, Lake Garda and Verona.
